For the Patriot

Tribute of Respect

            Ashland Lodge, No. 211, A. Y. M, Mt. Airy, N. C. Nov. 20th, 1862

At a communication held at Masonic Hall this evening, the following preamble and resolutions were adopted:

WHEREAS, It has pleased an Allwise Providence in the mysterious and inscrutable dispensation of His laws to remove from among us, out friend and brother, William C. Kingsbury, a member of Company C, 2nd Regiment N. C. Troops, who died at Charlottesville, Va., on the 9th day of November 1862, and whereas, it is just and proper, while bowing in meek submission to the finis of Omnipotence, that we should, in accordance with the custom of our order, and the promptings of our own hearts, pay the only remaining tribute to the memory of our deceased brother; therefore,

Resolved, That we have heard, with feelings of deep and painful regret of the death of our friend and brother, W. C. Kingsbury.

Resolved, That our thanks are due and hereby tendered to our brethren of Charlottesville Lodge, Virginia, for the fraternal respect paid the remains of our deceased brother.

Resolved, That we tender to the family and friends of our brother our heartfelt sympathy.

Resolved, That we will wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.

Resolved, That copies of these resolutions be sent to the family of the deceased, and to Charlottesville Lodge, Va., and to the Editors of the Greensboro Patriot, and N. C. Standard for publication.

                                                J. S. HILL, W. M.
